Most telco providers (Telstra, Optus, etc) provide some form of billing management system but typically this is treated as a self-serve “Software as a Service” (SaaS) where the customer is required to learn these complex systems and expend their own staff’s time and resources to generate and analyse services and billing reports.

 

Also, these systems apply only to that telco provider. The majority of clients we work with have services with multiple providers, which results in complex multi-provider networks with multiple bills.

 

In the highly competitive Australian telecommunications marketplace, telcos are constantly cutting costs and reducing staff numbers to shore up profits which severely impacts the customer-facing account management and support areas. Ensuring bills are accurate are a very low priority for all telco providers.

 

With basically zero support from the telco's, the auditing of bills becomes too onerous and very low on the priority lists for a customer’s busy Finance and IT teams. This means, mistakes and errors can easily creep in.

 

Consequently, their billing is left unchecked and only becomes a priority every two to three years when the next round of contract negotiations begins, which is too late and does not allow for well-informed negotiations.

  • A billing management system that is vendor agnostic and accepts bill feeds from all major telcos. The systems offered by telco providers (Telstra, Optus, etc) are normally only applicable to their billing systems and can be difficult to export or import data.

  • Assurance that your telco services and billing is accurate and fully understood before the next round of telco contract negotiations begin, which puts you in the driver’s seat.

Every month when bills are issued, CDK will:

  • Download and deep-dive to analyse all services and charges from all your telco providers.

  • Allocate services and costs to clients internal cost centres (GL codes).

  • Identify unallocated, “no usage” and superfluous services that may be cancelled.

  • Compare all charges back to contracted rates: “bill to contract validation”.

  • Generate easy to understand reports on all areas of telco.

  • Identify mistakes and then raise these with the provider and pursue to resolution.

  • Follow up and escalate any queries as required to achieve real results –credit redemptions, changes to services, reconfiguration of services, etc.

  • Benchmark/compare all services and costs to other similar sized customers & to industry-best rates and tariffs to ensure all services are continually the most cost-effective.

  • Find and fix mistakes as they occur before they compound and amplify over time.
